One of my user logs into the PDC domain from an NT WK 4. His profile and home directory is stored in separate shares in the PDC. His printer is no longer there, Internet Explorer gives error messages when going to a site. When a log in as another user in the same NT WK, no problems occurrs. Is it the home directory/profiles corrupted?. If so, how do I fix it? Thanks.

tac.

One way to find out whether the profile is at fault or not is to logon to the PDC as an admin, find the user's profile and delete it. The profile will re-create again when user next logon to the server.

Thanks for the suggestion, that fix the problem. How do user's access their data and apps with this new profile with their previous home directory in the PDC? Will the home directory need to be changed? I logged into the PDC and I could not access the user's home directory to make backup or re-install it. Why?

thanks again for your help.

The problem with kgchu's response is that if you delete the centrally held profile, it will only re-create from your default user's profile. If the user's profile is somehow different to the default user, then all those changes will need to be made while the user is logged in.

No changes should be made to the home directory - it is a completely separate thing. If you cannot access this directory, you may need to change ownership of it so that you can.

Make sure that the profile and home directory paths are correctly entered in User Manager for Domains.

I hope this information is of some use.
