Application: Lotus Notes R5

Problem: A user opened a virus from "postmaster". He immediately closed it, but can no longer receive mail or move items to/from folders. (He can still send email)

Attempted resolutions: The application and machine have been shut down and rebooted. The server has been rebooted. The Fix Up module has been executed. None of these have worked.

What should we do? This is a small office with limited Lotus expertise.

try replacing the desogn of the mail file.
or
try using a restored copy from the back up tapes.

PD

Back up tapes? That would presume we had the forsight to do back ups, would it not? Granted this is something that should be done, but has not been. Thanks for the suggestion.

How about:-
Create an new mail database with the same title, but different filename (Ensure ACL is the same as users original and mail file belongs to user).
Open both databases and use copy from all documents view of original DB and paste into all documents view of new DB.
Edit person document (Mail tab) and change 'Mail File' field to point to new database.
Edit user's location document (Mail tab) and change 'Mail File' field to point to new database.

Labour intensive but should work.

Thank you. That sounds like the most reasonable approach (especially since it is not my labor doing the work).

NO. NO. NO.

Refresh the template from the client.

Files -> Database-> Refresh Design.

Make certain you use the copy of the template from the server. Use a different template from the one that you are currently using if this does not help.... ie. the iNotes template if you are using the standard mail template. You can always replace the design is refreshing fails.
