I get this error message on a samsung windows XP pro laptop:-

<<<< Window could not start because the following files is missing or corrupt :
\Windows\system32\config\system >>>

I replaced the "system" file in the prevoiusly mentioned folder with the backup of the file from the repair folder.

The machine then tries to boot but just as windows XP is about to start I Now get a message from "lsass" saying a password has changed and cannot continue to load windows and reboots. There is no indication of which password has changed.

Any ideas anyone?

can you start it in safe mode? i have seen similar problems when the user profiles become damaged.. managed to boot the last one in to safe mode and run the SFC to check all the files... then it booted fine...
