I have a pst that is corrupt. When I try open it I get the error "file is not a valid pst'. i have tried the Inbox Repair tool but no luck. i have also tried the Easy Recovery Suite and no luck there either. Is there any other way to repair this file??

the pst is only 100Mb so it is not a size issue

How do you know the pst file is corrupt? What process are you trying to open up this pst file? Are you sure it is a *.pst file? Have you checked the properties of the file to make sure "Read only" is not checked. Where is the *.pst file located (I.E - Hard drive, CDROM)?

I know that it is corrupt because when I try attach it to Outlook I get an error that the file is not a vialid personal folder, but it is a *.pst. When I run the inbox repair tool it finds errors and tells me they are fixed, but when I open the "repaired" file there is nothing in it. The file is on the local hard drive. It is not read only

I note once with one of my users that once a week her pst would go on the fizz and a swift scanpst would resolve this. But the problem kept re-occuring. I made a new pst for her and the same thing happened. So i thrashed the pst and re-installed office 2k and no problems since. Del the pst and deal with the loss. BTW her pst was 1.0GB big and you can only imagine how long that scanpst took!!!

I can't loose the pst as the user has been using it as a filing systme for all his CAD diags for our new factory. I have to get the pst back somehow

What is the exact error message you get? Have you tried removing the personal folder first from outlook (Tools==>Services) and then added it back? Have you tried creating the outlook profile again and then try to bring in the personal folders pst file?

tried all that. the error when I try attach the pst to Outlook is that is is not a valid personal folder

What version of outlook? What operating system is this(XP, 2000?) You said you have deleted the oulook profile and recreated the profile and then tried pulling in the pst file and still no luck? Have you tried logging into the users workstation as Exchange Admin and then opening up the outlook program using this users profile and then pull in the Pst file?

There are services out there that provide failsafe data recovery for situations such as this. I've used this service before, they're kinda pricey but at least its a flat rate fee ($695 i think) and if the data in the .pst file is as critical as you stated, then it's worth it. CAD drawing are a real tough thing to lose.

Good Luck
