My server is reporting failed backup jobs with the follwoing message in the logs:

WARNING: "Joe User [juser]?Top of Information Store?Inbox?Outlook 10 Message Manager (JUser)" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.

I've looked on the BackupExec KB and know that this doesn't mean the files aren't backed up. I've received this error before and solved the problem by prompting my users to delete the corrupt message. This problem is different b/c this message "Outlook 10 Message Manager" doesn't seem to exist. I can't find any useful information at Microsoft or Veritas. I can't see this object in Outlook or Exchange System Manager, I can only see it if I browse the Mailboxes from the selections tab in BackupExec. Has anyone seen this before?

We get the exact same problem here and as far as i was aware, BE 9.1 was meant to fix the problem as it's just a problem with the software thinking the file hasn't backed up when it has.... The backup still comes up as Failed even though fully done.

For yours, Outlook 10 is normally the file in the registry that outlook xp/2002 uses to store all it's info...

Is that the version you're using?

Run "regedit" and go to...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Office
10.0

Hope i've helped?

Thanks. I know that the backup just reports failed when it encounters problems, regardless of how non-critical they are and that the items have been backed up.

I guess my question is more directed towards what is this "Outlook 10 Message Manager" object? I am using Outlook XP/2002 so I know that this item is related to my client software, but if I look at all the messages in my inbox from within Outlook there's no message with that subject. I assume that Outlook creates some sort of hidden "message manager" object in my inbox on the server. Perhaps it's related to the rules manager. The only way I can see this object is to browse to my inbox from within the "Selections" tab on a job definition in BackupExex. And there's not just 1, there's about 15-20 of the same item. I want to delete them, move them, or perform some other action that would isolate the corrupt file.

Thanks for your help.

...furthermore, I realize this might not be the right forum since it's related to Outlook and Exchange, but I can only see the object from BackupExec.
