corrupt emails in mailboxes after IS restore

we recently had a virus eat our edb.log and thus caused the IS to go down. we have restored and dealt with restores in the past, so that is not the issue. the issue is now that we have uncomitted transactions, and started with a new edb.log, there are corrupt emails. by this i mean they are visible to the client, but they cannot be opened or deleted. obviously, it would be great to restore them, but if that is not an option, does anyone know how to remove them from the database or get them to delete from the client (outlook)
 
what type of backup software do you use ? you may try to do a full backup to flush the transaction log see if that works
 
the log file was gone so no transactions could be committed --

we ended up using isinteg utility

isinteg -pri -fix -test alltests

it removed the emails that were locked --
