I have recently installed an Avaya IP 500 V2 system running 8.1.6 release software and have a question on how to correct the time display on the telephone sets. The system is connected to our computer network with the SNTP selected. However, after many reboots of the system the time is always running a minute and forty seconds behind the network. In the system, it allows you to change the time but by fifteen minute increments. Is there another way to correct the time shown on the sets by smaller increments?

Thanks for any help.

You can manually set it if you set the system time config source to none. To do so you need to set a phone up with system phone rights level 2

Manually Setting the System Time

For systems without access to a time server, a number of methods to manually set the system time exist. These are available in the Release 4.1+. In both cases the user's login code, if set, is used to restrict access to the time and date settings.

1400, 1600, 9500 and 9600 Phones

Phones in these series (excluding the 1403/1603 models) can set the system time and date when the extension user is configured with System Phone Rights. The user is able to access menu options to set the time, date and time offset by selecting Features | Phone User | System Administration.

Other Phones

The following method is only supported on these phones: 2410, 2420, 4412, 4424, 4612, 4624, 4610, 4620, 4621, 5410, 5420, 5610, 5620, 5621, 6412, 6424. The phone needs to be configured with a Self Admin 2 button.

Set it by the phone,
Give a user , user tab level 2 user rights
Then access the phone,
scroll down to phone user
Select System administrator
Select Time
Now set the time.

If you make a default IP Route to your gateway, you can put in a public SNTP timer server address such as 132.163.4.101
