Hi all

I remember back in the days of exchange 5.5 I used to have a little print out of the correct order in which MS Exchange services need to be stopped before the exchange server is rebooted. Does anyone know this order. I need to reboot my exchange servers on a regular basis at the moment and I would like to know the safe way of doing it, I mean do I need to unmount the database of can i jsut stop the store and reboot.

Your help in this would be great, many thanks.

I think there is no need to manually stop or start any services. Just restart server and the system will handle it automatically.

are you sure, that sounds a little odd for exchange.

I have been working with Exchange 2003 for a few years and whenver I restart the servers, I never bother to stop the services first. But if you experience slow shutdown/restart, Micorosft recommends you to stop Information store before restarting. It will speed up the restarting time, that it.

RichardHuang is correct. No need to manually stop services now (or ever - even back then) unless Exchange is on a DC. And that's only to shorten the shutdown time of a server.
