when users make a call locally within the switch, the correct number is not displayed properly at the called stations.

what could be problem and how do i troubleshoot, any help
will be appreciated.

we have communication manager 3.1 and s8300.

Thanks.

you could start by executing a "list trace station" command and seeing what the switch is sending...

If you are using ISDN trunks you may have to administer the Public Numbering table (change public-unknown-numbering [ext. length]. If the trunks are non-ISDN you are at the mercy of the service provider as far as what number is displayed.

Thnaks fo reply,

internal calls are perfect with no issues, only when they call outside for example mobile phone then they see incorrect name and phone number(they see same name and number even if they call from different extensions) being displayed. this is happening with all users.

here is list trace,

LIST TRACE

now calling number i should see in switch is 033917896870
but it is showing 0339178970..

again user says on her mobile the number that is displayed is not what i see in switch!!!

any clues please??

originally thought you were referring to internal calls "within the switch"..looks like you will have to refer to the "public-unknown" like 4merAvaya said...

thanks nocster,

what do i check in "public unknown" ??

well if you "list public unknown" you should be able to see what your extensions are programmed to send out on external calls...

like this example extension 1234 is programmed to send 212-555-1000 on external calls..

Ext Ext Trk CPN CPN
Len Code Grp(s) Prefix Len
4 1234 2125551000 10

list public-unknown-numbering

NUMBERING - PUBLIC/UNKNOWN FORMAT
Total
Ext Ext Trk CPN CPN
Len Code Grp(s) Prefix Len
4 6 1 03491789 10
4 6 99 4

as per 4meravaya if i have DS1 trunk...then it is ISP problem...d u agree?

ignore my last post...this is correct,

NUMBERING - PUBLIC/UNKNOWN FORMAT
Total
Ext Ext Trk CPN CPN
Len Code Grp(s) Prefix Len
4 6 1 03391789 10
4 6 99 4

Test by doing this in ISDN Public

Ext Len = Digits in dial plan. If is extension is 7500 then it will be 4

Ext Code = For the entire 7500 -7599 range just put 75 for example. For the test put in the exact extension number you will be calling from.

Trunk Group = Leave blank. This will send out the CPN on all trunk groups.

CPN Prefix = What you want to show up on Caller ID

CPN Length = Number of digits in CPN Prefix

Ext Ext Trk CPN CPN
Len Code Grp(s) Prefix Len

4 XXXX 5554443333 10

Your problem is that you are saying in public unknow that the total length of the CPN is 10 digits and the first 8 are 03391789. So the switch only append the last 2 digits of your extention. You need to change your CPN length to 12 to send all the digits 033917896870. You also need to make sure that your provider will accept 12 digits.
