hmm.... do you guys know anything or any IM client that supports YM, AIM, etc.. (like gaim)but with some admin features like.. keep track of all the messages on a database.. (mySQL or something..)

Tnx

basically.. i want to have an "enterprise" key logger.. windows, linux boxs.. but.. i just want to monitor the IM activity and of course the reasn for the mysql database is for centralization and at the same time.. i can cook up a script that would produce reports into a nice and neat row and column format.

Hum... I see.

Well may be SNORT can do a great job for you. It sniffs network traffic and can log it into mysql (ACID is a great frontend to analyse snort's log).

Snort can monitor what you want. So just configure it to liste n to the port that AIM uses....

Good luck!

might want to install an IRC or Jabber server. Then you can get everything you want.

there are many open source jabber servers to choose from and also lots of client choices. The best place to find the servers and clients is from jabber.org

Jabber or MSN is way to run an internal server. You can also check out AimSniff on sourceforge (I think). It's designed for AIM, but you could probably modify it for others.
