I have a CS1000 Telephony Manager, I am looking to upload the phone list from the site and sych it to the telephony manager.

Can anyone provide me with information on how to go about setting this up? Once setup is there a way to schedule it monthly or would I do this manually?

Thanks.... ;~)

Schedule a CND Sync in the TM Manager on the server (right click on it in TM Scheduler and run). This will sync all the names from the phones CPND to the TM Directory. Then go into Corporate Directory in same manager and set the M1 Corp Dir up, check wich sites you want to include in the corp dir, check which sites to upload to, and schedule it. Right click and run it.

They should run in this order, and depending on how often you change stuff around schedule weekly or daily.

Phones that use this need a CLS or CRPA

I meant syncing it with the pbx with the telephony manager
I wanted to pull the data from the pbx and edit then add it to the telephony manager.

Sorry I gave misinformation in the post.

Also can this be something that I can do during hours or does it have to be done on a maintenance window?

I would think pulling data from the PBX editing it and then uploading it to the telephony manager would be able to be done during the day.

Bignose...thanks for the info!

Getting info from the PBX is just done by retrieving the sets, this is a snap shot of the Sets in the Database of the PBX. This can be done in hours but depending on the size of your switch could take a long time. The idea of telephony manager is to provide a GUI for the set management. Then the TM Directory part is when you do your initial CND sync it takes the CPND an the DN from all the sets and creates the directory so for example:

a set with a number of 1000 and a name of John Smith would create a new Directory entry "JohnSmith" with a first name "John" and a Last Name "Smith" a CPND entry of "John Smith" a DN "1000" and ESN "01000" (default for ESN is to put a 0 on the front)

After the intial create you would then use the TM to do the changes and sync back to the PBX eg.

John leaves and is replaced by Bill Gates go into the TM Directory and create the new entry for Bill. Then go into the Set 1000 and change the directory entry to the new one, go down to the Key 0 where the Name is and there is a button to copy the CPND from the Directory, click it "Bill Gates" is filled in. Save the Set and the select the check box by set 1000 and transmit to the PBX. Go into TM Directory and Delete "John Smith".

All this can be do in Hours, all the changes on the TM will not affect the users, until you TX to the PBX. There is a check box that stops the transmit if the user is on the phone if you TX without this checked and hes on the phone the call would be droped.

Bignose

So there is no way to extract a file from the pbx in excel and edit it before uploading into telephony manager and vice versa?

Thanks...

The TM is supposed to be an exact representation of your PBX, because it is supposed to be for the none CLI users to be able to manage their PBX (get a TM replace an Engineer, posibly not). There is no reason to make any changes to the data before it gets to the TM it defeats the object of the server. What is the point if you make a change to the data before it gets to the TM then the TM will show rubbish data.

If you are just after an excel printout of the sets on your switch capture a TNB printout and use mv.xls off to covert it.

Hi bignose,

I follow the steps on synchronizing the corporate directory but still the list are not updated, any idea?

Thanks.

Run the CD application and ask it to create the file and open in Excel/Text app if Office is not on server. Take a look at that file is it up to date.

If not then run the CND sync again, then do the same is the CSV file correct now. Once the CSV file is right let it upload and check on sets.

Have had failures in the CD Upload before because the PDT Password was wrong against the site setup of the TM.
