Have built a new PC with XP pro SP1. and install around 700 Type1 fonts into the windows font folder. The user reported everything was running fine. but the other day he opened a existing file and the text had disappeared? It's just blank doesn't show up. He spoke to corel support and they said that yes it can happen because version 9 isn't supported on XP. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a fix for it?

well, one should NEVER install that many fonts at once - it's not needed. Draw 9 came with Bitstream's Font Navigator - use it to manage the fonts... i.e., except for the specific fonts required by the OS, make a folder for all the T1 fonts and another for the TT fonts ... move the fonts to this folder and then have BFN scan your system for fonts.. you can then just drag/drop fonts w/in BFN to install/uninstall fonts... Odds are your client has both T1 *AND* TT fonts with the same name installed at the same time. This will cause the fonts to "disappear" in files because your computer doesn't differentiate really by font *type* but by font *name*. It's seeing multiple fonts by that name and doesn't know which to choose from, so it displays neither.

Already sorted!

Hadn't realized but the user had installed fonts with the same name copied from old PC. Forgot the golden rule...Users lie!

Thanks for your suggestion about using BFN, will "encourage" him to use it.

Cheers
