COREL TRACE fill probs....

hello,

i am using CorelDraw 9 to create a t-shirt design.

I am importing an image into a blank document, selecting TRACE BITMAP and creating a vector image using the TRACE BY OUTLINE option.

Upon returning to CorelDraw, i select FILL. However, the new graphic fills almost completely (as if to form a silhoette) whereas i basically require a simple colour change (ala colouring a BMP file in Quark, where the graphic is simply a 1-colour image with no background colour).

I have had no problems previously when i have traced bitmaps in CorelDraw using this same procedure - but on this ocassion, rather than one vector graphic being created (with bits cut out of it - if u know what i mean!), what's created seems to be a big black shape with lots of diff white shapes on top of it - hence the FILL option creating a silhoette effect, with the white bits also being filled with the chosen colour.

I know this is long-winded, potentially simple to solve and not particularly well explained, but please if anyone can help i need to sort this pretty quick as it's something i thought i'd do easily and therefore the timescale is short!!

cheers for any help :)

Check that the shape is not grouped. If ungrouped try selecting all objects and combining.

yes it is grouped - i noticed that when i was messing about with it last night. I thought i might be able to use the INTESECT/TRIM/COMBINE options to create one single vector graphic??? Nothing i seemed to try was working when i tried this though - will have another go today if this (rather than the actual CorelTrace settings/procedure) is the likely problem

(thanks for replying by the way)

It will need to be ungrouped before combining. Intersect etc can be erratic on grouped objects.

thanku very much - i think i've sorted it now at last

cheers mate
