I've been using Corel DRAW 8 for a number years now and seem to be having a problem using it on my latest laptop.
When I try to open up a previous graphic or import a graphic, the application will lock up. After a minute or two an error message will appear saying the application is not responding and needs to shut down. CD8 is still operating on my previous laptop. Both laptops are Toshiba's and are running XP SP2.

I have tried to uninstall and re-install the application with negative results. Can anyone be of help with this problem?

Thanx in advance,
Hal C.

Not sure the F8 on Corel launch is relevant on V8 but hey worth a shot but one thing which may help is having a postscript printer as your default, any postscript printer will do, set it to file. Draw looks at the printer information on start up and this may have something to do with it. If you use Draw frequently you will see some great new features in X3 and although the trace is hugely improved it now does not have centreline or the effects tracing.

You could also try running in compatibility mode through XP. This is usefull on predominately DOS based programs, but sometimes has effective results on pre-XP released programs. There are tons of settings that can be tweaked that will emulate Win 95 and other DOS options such as Himem and othere functions that have lost most manual control in XP. If you aren't familiar with compatibility mode, google would be your best place to start, but breifly, right click on the shortcut, choose Compatibility tab, and start from there.

That did it! So far it hasn't locked up. Time will tell. I've got a job coming up this week that will use several functions within CD 8.

Thanx a bunch again,

Hal C.
