Corel Draw 11 & Minolta QMS magicolor Problems

Need some help here Boys. We got big time printer/color palatte compatibility problems, or who knows what. What we see on the screen, is close enough to the pantone and other palattes RGB, etc., but what is coming out of the printer is something else all-to-gether off big time.

We are not talking your basic difference between screen colors and coated stock non-coated stock etc. We are talking wrong colors period. You put in suptle tones of sandy looking buff it comes out bright yellow. How do you get all that harmonized. An HP ink jet will print out the color just like on the screen, hook up the Minolta QMS 2200 and the garbagey colors come out.

Help! We are a design firm we are in trouble on this one...

You may have to calibrate your monitor to your printer. It sounds like your printer may be close to true 4 colour process print.
This is really obvious if you are using the Pantone Matching System (PMS) for four colour process. Different printers can produce different results, unfortunatley if you send the file as artwork to another party for printing the QMS results may be the more accurate!
For spot colour offset printing PMS is fine, the inks are pre-mixed to precisely match your Pantone colours.
The problem you are describing can be really obvious with oranges (they turn brown) and blue/purple (may turn grey).
You may have to consider purchasing the "Pantone Solid to Process Color Guide" booklet. This helps to determine what you see on screen (as pseudo CMYK) as to what may come out of a printer.

Regarding Pantone to CMYK - Pantones'site has downloadable AI and eps files which you can put into Draw and save as pallettes, Have you tried turning on/off colour management?

Download spot to cmyk eps file from Pantone site (it has been a while, I assume they are still available, mine was about 200+Kb)if extension is eps rename to ai - in Draw - tools - pallette editor - open pallette - choose ai from drop down list and open - save as *.cpl. Some of the cmyk values for Pantone spot colours are different/more accurate when displayed with colour manager on. This is for Draw V10, hope my memory hasn't failed me.
