I've got a document that was in pdf file from the internet site. I'm trying to copy and paste in word. There are apparently no security settings. I'm got the continuous option selected then go to select all and copy. Nothing gets highlighted but it does work when i try that on the help pages.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: There are apparently no security settings.

From your description, it sounds as though there ARE security settings that are not allowing you to copy the text.

Are you using the correct tool? Can you highlight ANY portion of the text, rather than 'select all'?

You can do a Save As in .pdf to save as a .rtf file. Did you try that?

I couldn't highlight anything on the text. When i looked at the security settings it didn't give any indication that anything was locked down. However, i agree there must be some security preventing the copy. I had tried the save as but although it looks like it saves the doc it doesn't.

No sweat.

It's possible that the text is not actually text, for example, it's been scanned in as an image or it's been converted to paths before being run out. If either of these is the case then you wouldn't be able to select the text because it's not actually text, regardless of whether there are any security settings.
