I've taken my Maxtor external hard drive from my PC and have attached it to a friends Mac. We are trying to copy some MP3 from his system to the Maxtor hard drive, but when we drag the file to the Maxtor icon on the Mac desk top it won't copy the file. We get a circle with a line thru it indicating it won't work. Do I need to format the Maxtor HD to work with the Mac? I'm not all that familar with Mac's.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You may wish to be sure the external PC formatted drive is FAT32, not NTFS. No one has the ability to write to NTFS but Microsoft.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Jimbo,

I thought because it was a MP3 file I wouldn't need to format the external drive. I guessing you're right. I'll see if I can find something on Maxtors web site.

Thanks for your reply.
