I have to make a list of file names from a rather large program. What I would ideally like to do is copy the file list from Explorer to a document/email.
Obviously I can view the information in Explorer and I can print screen in Paint.... but this gives me an image and this is not what I need.
Does anyone know of a way you can copy the list of files in Explorer or any other program to another format
i.e Word.
Just to clarify .... I do not want to copy the actual files... just the list of files !

Any pointers please.

Best Regards

How is your DOS?

dir Foldername > Filename.txt

This will create a text file in the folder with the directory listing.

There are also third party Windows utilities which will do the job. All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

Good Mulga...

If you just want the file names without all the rest use the /B (for brief) switch.

If you need a folder tree, use /S (for and subdirectories).

IOnce you are in DOS you may use DIR /? for a list of the switches.

Thankyou both for your expert assistance.
Thats exactly what I required ...
