Hi.

I have SCO Openserver version 5.0.5.
I need to be able to copy files from my SCO machine to my Windows 2k computer automatically via ftp (i guess), however when i say ftp Win2k it simply says Conection Refused - but i can happily ftp stuff if i use ftp on my Windows PC and obviously all the computers can ping each other.
Any ideas ?

Regards
Mark.

Connecting to a remote server using FTP (client) and allowing incoming FTP (server) are two different processes. It sounds like your Win2K system doesn't have an FTP Service running. Most do not, unless specifically enabled.
Can you FTP to the WIN2K system from another PC?

Hi.

Nope! i tried running ftp from my 3 windows machines to the others, 2 are Win2k, one is Win NT - all machines come up with connection refused but all can ftp from/to the unix pc lol

You need to add the FTP service to the Win2K box. Check the Win2K forum.

Another way is to use samba on the SCO box.

Hope This Helps, PH.

nfs client on the w2k machine won;t help, he is try to push the file from sco -> w2k.
an nfs server on the w2k would work but they tend to be expensive. as phv says install samba on the sco system and use a scripted smbclient session to put the file on a windows share.

You're right stanhubble, I meant server. I wasn't sure if it came with w2k or was separate. Samba is definately a better option than buying the server package.
