Hello,

I need to copy my details section so that it appears on the page 3 times. The report has one group, by Homeroom Teacher, and the only data in the details section are names.

I can't seem to figure it out, either by adding more detail sections or a subreport.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

To add extra details section do the following:

Report --> Section Expert
Under Sections
Click on Details
Click on Insert button to insert another Details section.
Click on Insert button again to insert one more Details section.

Hope this helps.

Thank you BettyJ, but I already knew how to do that and tried it. It just adds the same names in the group right onto of the first detail section. I need each group on it's on page and the detail section on it 3 times. It's weird I can't do this. It's simple data, just names....

Can you explain more what you are trying to achieve in your report, like what fields you are using and what is the exact format of the result you need?

It's a really simple report - just names of students grouped by Homeroom Teacher, one group per page. It's a sign-in sheet that one of the directors wanted, but they wanted the group of students three times on the page since it doesn't take up that much room and so they won't have to print it off everyday.

Probably there may be another easier way to do this, but I believe you should be able to do it with a subreport. You can copy your current report and name it as subreport.rpt. Then suppress all fields in the subreport except Details.

Go to your original (main) report.
Insert --> Subreport
Select subreport.rpt

In Link tab link by the Homeroom Teacher field and place the subreport in the Group Footer section.

awesome! Thank you for the direction. :) I had tried a subreport, but didn't get it right, obviously....hahaha.

why not? it should work. what problem did you have with the subreport?

no, I just meant I didn't do the subreport the right way in the past before asking about it here. I just didn't configure it probably. It works now thanks to you! One more question. That works and makes it appear twice, but I need three times, so I copied the subreport again and inserted it into the group footer, but with two subreports in there, it doesn't show anything.....

Insert another Group footer section in the main report and then

Insert --> Subreport
Select subreport.rpt

In Link tab link by the Homeroom Teacher field and place the subreport in the new Group Footer section.
