hi,
is there a way to copy a file to a cd-r using send-to in windows? without a third party cd-burning software?
we have an app, that needs to back up user data on a weekly basis, and needs to be a vbscript so the user can invoke it from desktop without any complications.
thanks.

In Windows XP, if you have a DC-R or DVD-RW installed, then open My Computer and right click on the icon for the drive, select properties.

Now select the Recording Tab, you should see a tick box with the description "Enable CD recording with this drive" tick it, set a drive to act as the temp location and select the record speed.

Finally click OK.

You can now drag and drop files to the CD-R drive, when you have done right click on the drive and select "Write these files to CD", this will then burn the files to disk.

The CD-R drive should also now appear in the send to list. Though you may need a re-boot for this.

thanks bill.
i'm trying to do this via a vb script. i also have a command line program called cdburn.exe which came from the windows resource kit. but this program accept iso image as input, then writes this iso image to cd. my problem is to find a program that will take a file and creage an iso file with the extension of .iso
any ideas?

thanks bill. maybe that's what i need. but i'm getting an error on the link.

i checked the nero sdk. it's a complicated process that requires tons of c programming stuff. i'm trying to do this in vb script.
