I CREATE A DABATASE IN ACCESS 2007 FOR MY CLIENT AND NEED TO KNOW HOW TO PROTECT THIS DATABASE FROM COPYING OR DISTRIBUTING TO OTHERS OR RESELL IT. LET ME KNOW ASAP ANY SUGGESTIONS HOW TO STOP AND PROTECT COPYING. THANKS AND APPRECIATED.
Thanks for the information. I did convert my Acces 2007db in AccDe file format. IS this going to protect me from my client copying and distributing others or shall I have put code to create a key so that when he copies and try to resell and its going to ask for a key. Also my client paying in installments so shall I set up a timer that last 15 or 30 days and shut off if he dont pay me the rest of the balance. I need to know how to setup a timer and how to code for a key. Thanks and appreciated.
Moe - an accde file format only protects your source code and form/report designs, it won't stop your client copying the file.
If you want to write code to expire your database after a specific period, that is your choice, but I would ensure that this was covered in the license you would get them to agree to as part of the sale. You also have to ensure that this is not easily breakable or it becomes rather pointless spending time implementing and testing it.
If your product is something that could be realistically used by other organisations, perhaps a better approach would be for you and your current client to jointly market it and sell it to them, with you sharing the profits. This way, both sides benefit.
Thanks for a great advice and appreciated. If for some reason the client copy the accde file and resell it. Can the other client use this database for their company and input the data. Let me know. Thanks!
No I dont have company logo. May be thats a good idea to put my company logos on the forms and the reports. Also somebody suggested me to create a encryption key. Do you know or have any idea how to do create a key so that it stays with that client. Let me know. Thanks and appreciated.
