'Copy of' appears in front of the file name

When saving a file in Excel the words 'copy of' appears in front of file name. I've tried removing the words but they still appear in the file name once the file has been saved. Doesn't matter if use I save or save as it appears both ways. Any ideas?

I would assume you are opening "Read Only" files....you may want to check that...
