I have a Cisco 1720 that we wish to 'clone' for backup purposes.
The existing router IOS is C1700-Y-M 12.2(10d) Release Software (fc1), ROM System Bootstrap Version 12.0(3)T Release Software (fc1)
The new router IOS is C1700-SY7-M 12.3(9a) Relase Software (fc1), ROM System Bootstrap Version 12.0(3)T Release Software (fc1)
I used tftp to copy the running config from the existing router to the server. Consoled to the new router, set the network and ip so I could access the server.
Ran copy tftp run
Show run, everything ok
Ran copy start run
Show start, everything ok
When I power cycle the new router it reverts to its original state, the copied config is not there.
I also tried:
Ran copy tftp run
Show run, everything ok
Erase start
Ran copy start run
Show start, everything ok
Same problem.
I would certainly appreciate any guidance on this problem.
