I am setting up a Digit Manipulation and creating a new CDP DSC in LD 87 and encountering ESN134 as below:

>ld 87
REQ new
CUST 0
FEAT cdp
TYPE dsc
DSC 17

ESN134

Which says that "Steering code conflicts with access code or directory number". I know there is no DSC's for 1*. Can anyone point me in the correct direction to work out where I would find the conflict? Our extensions are 5** and we dial 0 for an outside line. I am going from meridian books and whatever I can find on the internet about programming a meridian but have hit a wall with this one. I have set up other digit manipulation scenarios with no problem.

Any help appreciated...

Try
LD 90
REQ prt
CUST 0
FEAT net
TRAN ac1
TYPE loc and hloc

REQ prt
CUST 0
FEAT net
TRAN ac2
TYPE loc and hloc

If so, why are they there. Are they used?

Also DSC numbers like 171 and others starting with 17x would block this.

swoofter,

There could be a DN begining with 1xxx or feature code or even a spre code
1. Print all DSC ld 87 type dsc dsc rtn
2. Check the DN 1 in in LD 20 type DNB
3. Print the Feature code in LD 57, code all
4. check the spre code in ld 21 type CDB

Usually the spre is 17xx- if so you can change it. It has to be there for your feature codes to work though it is only used with rotary dials

Hope it helps

Here is a bit more info...

There are no DSC numbers that start with 1 so 17 should be fine in that regard. The PRT's on LD 90 ac1 and ac2 return nothing so I am guessing that is fine. When requesting a prt of DNB's starting with 1 in LD 20 it returns DN 1 with TYPE SFP and the SPRE in the CDB is 1. I guess this is directly where the problem lies. If you can explain (pretty basically) what "TYPE SFP" and SPRE (special prefix?) are, and if/how to change them, I would appreciate it. As you can probably tell i have very little knowledge of programming these systems. Been dropped in the deep end without a lifeline.

Cheers...

As I said Spre code is only used on rotary phones but it is still require otherwise teh feature codes do not work.

1. Find a spare number
ld 20
req prt
type ludn

This will return all you rspare numbers, make a note of one to use best for a 3-4 digit number out of your extension range
to test dial a feature which uses features codes i.e group ick up- to check them what the feature code if you do now know

2. ld 57 test a feature code first suggest you use pick up
req prt
type ffc
code all

look for the pick up code - pkug ?

3. LD 15
REQ CHG
TYPE CDB
press rtn until
spre enter the spare number above
press rtn until the end

Re-test the pick code again to make use everything is ok

4. "1 " should now be free

5. Assign it your DSC

3. LD 15
REQ CHG
TYPE CDB -> at FTR say yes or enter FTR here
press rtn until
spre enter the spare number above
press rtn until the end

IF you have the DN Expansion package (DNXP) set your SPRE to a 7 digit number. This will free uu the most amount of DN's. Also try to never use a 4 digit rollover number. I like to pick a throwaway range and work with that such as:

2999999 SPRE
2999xxx ACOD's Where xxx is the Route Number
2998xxx Agent ID's
2997xxx Phantoms
29xxxx0 through 29xxxx9 For Rollover's then each
DN can have 10 non conflicting
etc.....

With this, you have thrown away only a small portion of numbers allowing for the maximum possibilities for future DID ranges. May seem like TONS of work now, but the payback later is tremendous when telco gives you the only range in your NXX as numbers you have conflicts with.

Why not just use another number for the CDP DSC? does it have to be 17?

WAYNE67,the spre code is not only used for rotary phones. It is used to access
some other features regardless of what type of set you are using digital/analog(rotary or digitone). It is also used to log into a maintanence set to access the PBX.It is also used to auto set relocate phones.

THEFLETCH,7 digit spree code--this should make using ffc's a lot of fun!
