Converting WP macros to run under WP10

I have created a suite of several dozen WP macros that enablemy colleagues to generate a substantial number and variety of customized memos and other documents. The macros have worked through successive upgrades of WordPerfect. However, when I tried to run them under WP10 on my new home computer, I received successive compilation errors informing me that certain commands were either obsolete or required new syntax.

Is there some sort of guide available that would enable me easily to run through all of these macros and bring them up to date for use in WP10?

I'm sorry that I cannot help with this question. However, what I'm interested in is whether you found a guide to assist you in converting WP8 macros to WP10? I'm attempting to convert several macros which worked in WP8 but do not in WP9. The RightArray command is no longer supported.

Thanks for your help

A lot of stuff doesn't work. Corel makes a utility that is supposed to convert everything seamlessly. However, like a lot of Corel software, this miracle utility doesn't work.

Hey Everyone,

Not sure if I should start a new post or add to this one. Since this conversation seems to be about converting macros I'll try here first.

I am working with someone who has been using (I think) WordPerfect version 5.1, a DOS version. They have never upgraded the Wordperfect or Macros. If its not broke don't fix it.

Well, they are coming very close to being forced to upgrading. We are looking at a new desktop with Win 2000 client as the OS and it comes with Wordperfect (sorry I am not up on the version numbers yet, but is is a new version coming preloaded on a Dell Dimension).

We need to find out if we can take these old ( I think version 5.1 is what he said) macros and use them in the new wordperfect.

I am also an avid Word user so hope I can find some good advice here. Thanks in advance!

Your macro should work fine even though you had obsolete warnings. It is just that, a warning. Try to find an alternate method if possible and if the macro would be critical for future use in other wp versions.

For what is worth, the conversion is really only needed for wp51 to wp61. The others only need recompiling. There are on occassion something that needs a slight tweak. In particular, the FileRead() command was broken with the wp10 patch 3 and wp11. There is a workaround of course.

As for the RightArray() in wp8, never seen it and I've used macros since wp61. You must have a custom function.

There are some few commands that give warnings that have no real replacements. There's not much that can't be resolved though.

If you have a particular macro that you need help with, post the code her or if the code is large or has special codes, email to my khobson at aaahawk.com or khobson at odot.org.

I am looking for a CC10 issue (can't create address book, so what else is new). At any rate,in my search I noticed a post stating the SP 1&2 enable migration manager to function. MIgrantion manager is the tool which allows you to import macros. Hope that works. Off to post my own problem.
