Issue: DS1s, trunk groups worked fine as 'tie trunks'
When I converted them to ISDN with signaling groups, cannot get in-service, show OOS-near end indicating no connectivity between autodialer and S8700 on test system

Autodialer vendor recommended changing DS1/T1s from tie trunks to ISDN but now trunk groups are showing "out-of-service-NE". Getting switch errors ISDN-SGR 1793, 769 and UDS1-BD 769, 1793, 257. Not service affecting.

Have the following programming already in-place:
TN464F ISDN boards 3A09 and 4A09
ISDN Trunk and Signaling groups 169 and 170

Trunk Group 169 - 27 ports
3A0901-23 with Signaling Group 169 (3A0924 primary D channel)
4A0901-04 with Signaling Group 170 (4A0924 primary D channel)

Trunk Group 170 - 4 ports
4A0905-4A0908 with Signaling Group 170 (4A0924 primary D channel)

Vendor requirements for ISDN:
ESF/B8ZS
Network must provide clock
23B + D PRI with D-channel on channel 24
NI2
FAS configuration
ISDN T1s will not be connected to CSUs
T1s are internal, connect autodialer to PBX -- NOT brought in from outside network such as AT&T, Verizon.
Any feedback or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

What do you get when you status the signaling groups? I would think you would need a CSU of sorts somewhere for ISDN...

Thanks,
CJH

I get Primary D-Channel Out-of-service when I status the signal grps.

1 end must provide a clock. You can't set both to "Network" or there will be no clock, and therefore no D channel. Set 1 to network and the other to line-side.

Sorry, reread and see you're vendor is asking you to provide the clock, therefore your equipment must be set to "line-side" to provide them with the clocking they are looking for.

On the trunks form i was informed that if you are using NI2 it should be set to a B protocol. Has that been checked

prflash, supplementary svc protocol is presently set to A.

Check the DS-1 screen for the settings that needs to be changed. The Protocol Version needs to be set to B, NOT the supplimentary svc protocol under the trunk group. Also while you are on that screen, change the Connect to PBX and the Interface to Network.

Redphone, protocol version set to B on the DS1s.

Twisted Wire was helping me with this test system, changing from tie to ISDN. Got everything working. Thx all for your help. Now faced with new request to convert a Production system from tie to ISDN. Trunk group currently has 6 tie DS1s. Need to convert each T1 span to ISDN-FAS; each with 23b chnls, 1d chnl. Can I just convert the one tie trunk group to ISDN and create 6 signaling groups for each of the spans or do I have to also create 5 more trunk groups to associate with the new signal groups? thx

You can do it either way, you can have multiple sig groups in a trunk group, or multiple TG's with individual Sig groups, your choice. If you have the first, then on your sig gp form specify the single (same) TG for channel selection on each sig gp.

navy1 - what finally fixed your isdn problem. I have the same problem with mine. thanks

goetzie, Trunk Groups worked when I changed DS1 form:
Connect: line-side, Country Protocol: 1, Protocol Version: b
