I have my Sidekick 95 cardfiles organized into seven different directories, running on a Win98SE PC. I want to convert these cardfiles for use with ACT! 6.0 on a WinXPpro
PC, and maintain the same organization of directories. Can any help with the steps for doing the conversion?
Thanks in advance.

I have the same question and am looking for software that would replace sidekick and still be converted into several different card files. Can anyone help me with this. I now have sidekick running on windows 98 and want to upgrade to windows xPpro. Can this be organized into card files on ACT. Goldmine ect. and which program is best for converting the data.

Dear pmarie,
To help you get an informed choice, it would be a good idea to check out this page at download.com:
It gives the opinion of some ACT! users to the new release; ACT! 2005.
It would appear to someone not using ACT! that version 6.0 is the way to go until they release another upgrade that fixes the problems.
I did notice that one person(at the time I checked the page) had chosen to stay with the later version but the opinions otherwise were fairly strident!
What is your opinion TraderAlex?

Thanks: We got SK98 Instaled on the Win98 Computer and on the new Winxp computer. We can read the old SK95 with SK98 on the Win98 computer but can not transfer them to the XP machine and the xp computer will not let us install SK95 on it. We have tried every thing we can think of but the files are different on SK95 & SK98. Do we need to install SK97 on our old computer to save cardfiles in the correct format to open with SK98 on an XP machine. Seems this has got a little more involved then we expected. Thanks for all the help. Vic.

Dear Vic,
When you have moved the cardfiles to the new computer, go to
File / Open Cardfile and when the Open Dialog comes up see the arrow beside the
Files of type
textbox well click on that and you will see :
Sidekick 2 Cardfile (*.SDB).
Choose that and then navigate to the location of the Sidekick2 files that you have transferred and then Open them and then Save them in Userdata as Sidekick98 files.
See how you get on with that.
Post back either way
Jim
