converting photoshop file to illustrator

What is the easiest way to open a photoshop file in illustrator? There are some paths that I would like to use in illustrator and I would like to use them in illustrator. Must I export them to an illustrator file or can I somehow access them directly using Illustrator?

simple enough...

file > export > paths to illustrator


... this will save your photoshop file as an illustrator file.

I find though that when I import these images in Illustrator, it makes them look worse.

Are they supposed to look EXACTLY the same with colors outputting EXACTLY the same too?
