I would like to convert formula labels displayed in a legend to regular text. For example, the legend should display "Database Requests" instead of "@Count of Database Requests". I have done this by deselecting the legend, and then creating a "custom" lengend with rectangles and text boxes, but this is very time-consuming. If anyone has a better way, I would appreiate the information. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Faye Carter [sig][/sig]

What version of CR?
Is this a legend for an advanced chart?
Are you charting Grand Totals? [sig]
Ken Hamady
ken@kenhamady.com
<a href= Reports Training by Ken Hamady
[/sig]

Thank you, Kenk for responding. I am using Crystal Version 7.0. This legend is for a pie chart and also a bar graph chart, and is not an advanced chart. No, I'm not charting grand totals, just counts of several fields. However, it would be nice to know how to customize labes for grand totals also. When there is a count or sum of a field, the legend label shows up something like "@count of database requests" - I would just like to have the label read "Data Base Requests", for example.
Again, I appreciate your looking into this for me. [sig][/sig]

Faye,

Unfortunately you can't modify the text in a legend directly (other than creating your own legend).

You are using a "Detail" chart in V7, which is the equivalent of an "Advanced" chart in V8.

You are charting formulas that do counts. Since you said that they aren't grand totals, I will assume that they occur once per group.

If instead of formulas you use Crystal's natural summary fields do the counting of the column, you can chart these summary fields and you will loose the "@". However you will still have the words "Count of".

To get rid of the words you would have to use a "Group" chart instead of a detail chart. This requires that your grouping is such that each slice of the chart or bar of the chart is an indpendent group or subgroup. You are currently charting several numbers that appear in the same section. This can't be done in a group chart.

Ken - Thanks for your reply! This will be good information in the event that I need a group chart in the future. However, for the chart I am now working on, I'll just create a custom legend. I really appreciate your helping out with this request - this is a great site, and especially nice that so many folks, like yourself, are willing to help out with these Crystal questions.
