Converting Date Field

I have the following field "2003-08-01-11.04-30.791840" as a text field and want to convert it to a date field with only the date "2003-08-01". Any suggestions on how I can tackle this?
 
Sort by date Sort by votes
To get just the date out of what you have now is:
Left$([Field_Name],10)
