I have created a Yellow page ad in Corel Draw 11 and saved it as a .cdr file. The phone co. rep sent their printer's requirements for graphic submissions. It states that they will only accept Corel Draw .eps or .jpg files and fonts must have outlines or paths created to insure that fonts do not default. A footnote was given - ( Outlining of fonts is a function of Illustrator and some other programs that converts text to non-editable artwork ). They also remark that Illustrator 10 or earlier is the preferred program.

My ad contains fonts that the printer may not have and I do not want to be subjected to automatic substitution. This is why I need to send them the file as a whole graphic ( font to be viewed as graphic )

Can someone help me out and explain if Draw 11 can accomplish this. How can it be saved as .eps and how is the text outlined to view as graphic only?

You have several options: ask them what printer they're using, get a copy of the driver and print to file from Corel. The *.prn file will have all the fonts downloaded to their printer.

Option 2) Convert all your text to curves and export the file in one of the many export options you have such as *.eps.

Export as eps and select text to curves in the dialogue box. I do adds for my customers which go to the Yellow Pages in the UK - they require a postscript file to do this, select a postscript printer driver and set to file - print and in postscript options de-select download fonts and True type to Postscript (this will convert fonts to curves on print) - ensure bitmaps will print in the proper colour model ie cmyk/greyscale etc - give your file a file name with ps extension. You can import this back into Draw if you want to but remember the text will no longer be editable. I suspect in future more and more people will want or will take pdf and although Draw will do this I prefer Acrobat or Jaws for this.

My sincere thanks to both of you for your replies.

I could not get the name of the printer/publisher from the phone company rep. That would have made things too simple and as we all know of course the telephone utilities wouldn't want to do that!

I'm off and running to make the changes and my deadline!

Thanks again!!!
