HI All, Does anyone know if you can install 3300 software onto an SX200CXI chassis. The unit looks exactly the same so assuming it just software. We no longer want to maintain the SX200 but seems wasteful to replace the whole box?

Any suggestions or anyone done this?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I believe it's technically possible, however probably not documented/supported very well. Some things to think about:

1. Licensing, the ibutton is associated with the 200 license, that would have to be changed.
2. Small end CXs for the 200 often used internal flash cards for drives, I'm not sure if this is still supported in the 3300.
3. You'd be better off to format the drive and perform a fresh install than try any type of conversion.

I was in a emergency situation going the opposite direction and I asked the same quetion of my TAM. The answer he gave me was "You can try but at the end of the day Mitel won't support it either way"

I am thinking of Re-using a controller we have purchase cheaply back from a customer and using the SX200 CXi as a backup?
Might make more sense?

In an emergency, anything goes in my book. Will it work? I don't know, but my gut say yes which is why I thought of going there myself. Ultimately, I did not have to as another solution came up. This method I would consider only as a last resort.

I have done this. You just have to swap iButton SYSID from 3300 and install a haddrive instead of CF card. I would recommend to try it first with your particular box. It will take a couple of hours of downtime.

the grime reeper will be the license.

WORK SMART NOT HARD

I changed the SX200 MX controller to a 3300 with the purchase of a hard drive and Ibutton.

I would think the same would apply to the SX200 CX. The Sys ID would be tied to SX200 licensing so you would need a new one and you would need a hard drive if it doesn't already have one. I believe you can purchase new SYS ID's. May the force be with you.

There may be no i in team but there are three f's in fudge off.

Mitelmike2010 - I would strongly suggest that you purchase a 3300 box, it would worth the money in the long run. If for some reason you had total hardware failure or corruption and Mitel engineering were to be dispatched onsite, it can open up a can of worms ( speaking form expierence).

Best of luck!!
