Hi all,

I'm trying to cut a vinyl graphic for my business, and I'm having trouble. I want to have a simple outline behind my main text (there will be 2 layers of vinyl put on the window), but I need to be able to convert a stroke to outlines (the vinyl cutting software needs the outlines to know where to cut). Anybody have an easy way of creating a stroke that can be converted to an outline?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Thanks for the help, but that doesn't quite solve my problem. That is the first step to my solution as it gives me the outline stroke I need at that point, but I need that outline stroke to be converted to a simple object that's converted to curves. When I export from AI10 to my cutting software, any objects that haven't been converted to outlines disappear completely.

Any other takers?

Have you tried offseting path instead of stroking it? Set the desired outer path and it's basically the same result your after.
