What is the best converter to read Mac files on a windows Machine? Cost isn't too important, the main concern is being user friendly.

I'm getting MacDrive in order that I can view an external drive, that is Mac formatted - will this allow me to open Mac specific files as well?

What type of files do you want to see? All major graphics formats are platform agnostic. MS office apps are cross platform. There should be just about zero docs that yu can't open on a pc as ong as you have the right program.

Pre OSX macs did not put an extension, like .doc, when saving. That was teh big problem in opening docs on Windows machines. Now most apps put the extension on save (some have the option, but it's not a good idea to leave it off.

It would be Claris Works files, mostly WP documents. If they can be opened in MS works that would solve all my problems!

Clarisworks had the Save As MS Word. There was also a Windows version of clarisworks. This is not a mac vs pc problem but a program format problem. If you do not have the ability to convert the claris docs (via save as) or don't have a windows version of claris, your only hope will be to buy a full converter.

Go to the following link to see such a converter, that should also read the disk.
