Yes it is possible. If you have the .swf movie on your hard drive, open Flash and select "Import" then find the .swf file and select it. It will be brought into Flash at which time you can save it as a .fla file.
It's not really possible! You could, as Cat777 as suggested, import (if it wasn't protected!) a .swf in the Flash application, but that doesn't give you a .fla that you can use as such. All sounds and actionscripts are lost, and you're usually only left with useless symbols.
Once the .swf has been compiled, that's it! There's really no coming back!
Some body has asked to convert swf file into .fla one..
And not all downloaded swf files are opened into your flash software as it is protected by its Auther.. But here I have a software which will broke its code and then you will be able to import the Entire movie on your Macromedia Flash 5.0 I can gice you that software trick but you will have instead give me atleast 10 .swf files all must be good and please me enough then mail it to my Hotmail box. that is pritish_sinha@hotmail.com then only I am going to give that software to you.
bye
