I have a file that was e-mailed to me. The file type is pdf, but I believe the pdf file that was e-mailed to me, was created by SCANNING a paper document, rather than starting out with a Word doc or Excel doc, and turning it into pdf.

Strangely enough, when I try to save the file as rtf, although it "appears" to save, when I go back to where I saved the file, there is nothing there. (I have done this multiple times before posting here.)

Any and all help appreciated. I have a 4 page pdf file that someone wants turned into Excel so the names can be manipulated.

If the text was scanned and not converted by OCR, then you haven't got a hope, as the text is in an image format. Your best bet would be to scan the printed PDF and run it through an OCR package.

Or hand enter the entire spreadsheet again, or ask the originator to send you the .XLS file.

Knock and the door shall be opened unto you. Seek and ye shall find! [peace]

I love Mondays cause they're the Second day of the week!

I ended up OCR'ing the pdf and working with it after I had OCR'd the document. It wasn't as bad as I was afraid it might be.
