Controlling WSS user access more tightly?

I'm running WSS via SBS2003R2 and have locked most of the users out of adding announcements as they were using it for, shall we say, non-work related posts.

However, I'd still like them to be able to create and edit items in the helpdesk as that makes my life easier.

Is there some way to control what users are readers and contributors to which lists and documents?

Solved my own problem!

You can change the permissions of individual lists, libraries etc via

Home > Site Settings > Modify Site Content > [list} > Change permissions for this list
