Hi,

I'm new to this, I only got Macromedia Flash yesterday, but I am already loving it and working on some fun things to improve my website.

I am wondering, how do you slow down or speed up your flash movie at certain points? I only see the frames per seconds thing, and that seems to control the entire movie, but I am just interested in altering certain parts.

This manual is HUGE, and I have no idea where to begin searching for my answer...

you can't really..what you can do is put the parts that you want to speed up and slow down into movie clips and manipulate the timeline of the movieclip to play as fast or slow as you would like..say for instance you have a sphere that you want to tween across the stage..if you put it in the main timeline it will move at whatever you have the fps set at for that movie..but if you put that same sphere in a movie clip and have it tween the same distance but say for three frames..it would speed up the tween dramatically..put the same sphere in a movie clip and have it tween the same distance but say this time 25 frames..

test the movie and see the difference...

hi

Just to add on to Carls info for future reference, you can speed tweens up using actionscripting to 'leapfrog' frames. Have a look at faq250-756 items 28, 31 and 45.

I would of ended up saying, design your movie with a higher fps, then in the parts you want speeded up, shorten it...you should still get enough frames per second, while having smooth operation...I think I would be wrong tho...would I? Regards,
