Controlling the display of ANI

We recently switched long distance carriers from AT&T to Southwestern Bell. In part of that we began receiving ANI which was a complete surprise to us because we were told we had to have PRI in order for this to happen and since we are in an area where PRI is not available we had given up on that. None the less, now that we have ANI, we need to sometimes overide it with the actual vector or VDN name. We have multiple companies and sometimes re-use a group of operators but they rely on the digital display to know what company the call is for.

I would also be interested for someone to explain how we could be receiving ANI - we were told PRI and some upgrades on our switch would be necessary.

Thanks,

Randy

Ani can be delieverd as a DTMF stream, usually along with DNIS. Industry standard formats are *ani*dnis*, ani*dnis. If it's enabled on your trunk group form, and is being sent by the carrier, then it probably works. Unfortunately, I don't know how to help you with your override question.

We route through 4 or 5 VDN’s before our calls get delivered to an agent. The VDN that shows up on their display is always the one that has “Allow VDN Override” set to “N”.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks for the responses. I have already tried changing the VDN override switch on the VDN. It really doesn't seem to affect what is displayed probably because we are not routing through multiple VDN's.

We are using *ani*dnis* so I guess ANI is being delivered as a DTMF stream. Wonder why we weren't offered that solution years ago? Oh well, guess I can't complain, at least other than not yet being able to turn it off where I want.

One other possible consideration is availability of tone receivers... I forget what they're called. You have to receive all those digits for every call...17 in stead of 4....
