Greetings to all

We have just completed a website and are in the process of duplicating the site on a CD. The website has a forum incorporated that we can obviously not re-create on the CD ... and that is the source of my current headache. When clicking on the "Forum" button, the CD user should get a message (in a popup) like, "The forum is only available online, Do you want to connect Yes --- No" When he selects Yes, his PC should connect and go to the Forum. When he selcts NO, the popup should just close and stay on which ever page he was, when he clicked the "Forum" button.

You could ping your online site.
And if the ping gives a reply... you could open the forum else write an alert("No internet connection");

Just a suggestion.. i've never tried that :)
I've only used ping in vbscript.. but i think you can use shell commands in javascript.
