Heya All,

For awhile now I wanted to allow users to add very basic formatting to notes, comments and basically any free text they might have. I thought that if I use HTML I could provide that formatting (Bold, underline, bullets etc...).

Just wondering if anyone knows of a control which works well with VFP 9.0 and would allow user to views the rendered HTML and add formatting without having to add the HTML codes themselves (i.e. highlight a word, click "Bold" and they see the word bold and in the background bold tags are added to the word with HTML to be stored into memo field)

Since this hasn't really been a request of any of my clients, more just something I would like to offer, I don't want to spend too much money.

Thanks for any and all thoughts

Toodles,
Steve

Hi Steve,

One of my clients uses the TX Text Control for this ( He says it works fine in VFP, but there is a huge overhead and it's very expensive. No doubt other controls exist, but off-hand I don't know of any.

I recently tried to create a simple HTML editing control for my own use. Basically, the user highlights a block of text and then hits, say, Ctrl+B, and the code inserts the tags around the block. Unfortunately, this is very crude. Although the generated HTML is correct, it doesn't display properly in the control. I use it myself in an in-house app, but it wouldn't be suitable for an end-user.

I wonder if it would be easy to adapt the Microsoft Rich Text control to meet this need?

Mike

Heya Doug,

Thanks for the link. Didn't know you could do what I wanted with browser control, will read through the article.

As for Frankfurt, as usual would love to go but currently between clients so the 'conference budget' is pretty non-existent, keeping figures x'd that I get something soon and can start saving :)

Toodles,
Steve
