Contradictory Sayings

In thread1256-1178437, the subject has turned to the meanings of sayings and phrases. This reminds me of something I've always found interesting - well-known sayings that appear to contradict each other. Two of my favorite pairs are:

"Good things come to those who wait." vs. "He who hesitates is lost."
"Many hands make light work." vs. "Too many cooks spoil the broth."

Can anyone add to this list?

So how do you people refer to the stuff that Coca-Cola and Pepsi sell?
Pop, soda, or some other phrase?
Or is this another thread?

Coke...or Pepsi...but now reading r937 I am thinking next time I am ordering I will ask for 'cavity-inducing, fattening, obscenely overpriced sugarwater'

It seems more descriptive except Mountain Dew and Doctor Pepper along with Ginger Ale falls into same category...
