Hey,

I've been trying to learn how to do "contour cuts"...Is there any easier way...or is there only one? If so I would appreciate it if someone gave a step by step procedure. Also, must contour cuts only be done with "ai" files rather than jpegs, gifs etc...?

I work with both vynle cutters and also laser cutters, Are you trying to set-up your AI for vynle cutting??

First, goto the swatch pallet-goto New Swatch and create a bizarre color that you will not be using for graphics ( I made an outrageous Pink ), name it CutContour (no space with the caps), choose Color type "Spot Color" then "OK".
Choose this color for your cutting vector outline using the thinnest weight and "1" for Miter.

I think the issue 1-6 is struggling with, is that he/she wants to be told an easier way to make a path than learning how to use the pen tool. I suspect this is the case because this topic dovetails into a previous thread posted by 1-6, about exactly this issue.

1-6:

I'm afraid the answer is still no, you'll have to learn the pen tool.
