Can anyone please direct me to a demo for adding a context menu in windows explorer as I can't find one except a couple saying that it is easy to do?

Any help most appreciated, thanks

Simon

Wasnt sure if you meant to replace the standard context menu or add to it ...

This is a reg entry I use
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\MyApp\command]
@="C:\\APPS\\MyApp.exe %1"

Also check the api for shell functions

hope this helps !

And here's a local thread on the subject: thread222-396221

the first link is vb.net .... i want to do it in vb6

the second link is what I know how to add context to a certain file extension .. not for all types!

Thanks thought

thread222-514744 If somethings hard to do, its not worth doing - Homer Simpson

Nah not really no been search all day I can't find anything really helpful .....

Er...the thread I pointed you at covers adding a menu option for all extensions. Did you read it all?

I have taken a closer...however there isnt a working example and I'm confused as to what to actually use? Have either of you got it working and running? %-)

thanks

Simon

The thread I reference contains both a registry merge file solution and a VB code solution. They both work. Or, at least, they do here.

My linked example works (nt4 sp6a). The dlls when registered make changes to your (win) explorer's context menu. If you modify the source & recompile, you should have your own menu

The thumbnail took me a while to workout. It actually shows thumbs in the icon, list or detail views.

You may need to restart before u see them working.

I removed the IE bands by searching the reg & removing the shlbands.dll entries & in IE (reg) clearing the toolbar entries.
