I have a client who when she goes to her contacts in her folder list - the contacts is populated. BUT, when she goes to a new mail message and clicks the to: button ( we have changed it to go to her contacts first) the select names is totally empty?? She doesnt have anything in a pab or in her outlook address book. - we have tried adding and removing the contacrs from the address options of when sending a new email check from the following lists: It still wont find any names in there. We run her on an Exchange Client - I just reformatted and loaded her on Friday with office xp and all the sp's and security packs for outlook. Help..
please help!@

If this is Outlook XP/2003:
Click on the address book icon.
then: tools->options

Check if "Contacts" appears in the lookup list. If not (as I assume), add it and move it to the top.

If this is Outlook 2000:
Go to tools-services-communications(?) tab, rest as above.

Hope this helps,
Andy

thank you, I added and removed it, but i did not add it to the top to check first, I will do this and let you know.

Had a similar problem - found that Contact wasnt found because somehow it had been named with 2 spaces before the name. Renaming it solved the issue

Another possibility:

Right-click on the "Contacts" folder in your folder list.
Select "Properties"
Select the "Outlook Address Book" tab
Make sure "Show this folder as an Outlook address book" is checked.

This is only applicable in XP.

Good catch btw that's also avail in w2000, that's how I fixed the same problem in w2k

I have a similar problem after moving Contacts to a new HP P4 - but the option to use the Contacts folder as an Address Book is greyed out and I can't choose it.
