contacts appears multiple times

when i create a new e-mail, and click on the To button, in the drop down on the top right, I have outlook address book, then indented, I have
contacts
contacts
contacts
!!!!

Only the 3rd one contains any names, the people that I entered into my address book. How do I close the two empty "contacts" folders?

What version of Outlook? If 2K in corporate workgroup mode, what do you see under Tools, Services? Has this always been this way or did it just recently start?

Try right clicking on your contacts folder, go to properties, and de-select the display as an address book. Apply, and then re-select. Ok to that & try again. If not, copy all contacts to a new address book, and delete the contacts and then re-import them.
