I have a user who is getting the message "Contact Set File Not Found" when she opens goldmine and tries to get into a database. The user is not locally based, therefore I give her support for everything over the phone. When I tell her to right click on the choice database and go to properties, it is greyed out. So I am wondering how I can change the path it is following to the correct path. I have just sent her the edited GM.INI files hoping that takes care of it, as well as the edited user file. Will this work?

Hello

This sounds like it could be a few things. I don't think you can fix it from the INI files. Your File | Open options are kept in SPFiles.dbf, (dbf if your running the dbase version)

Are her File | Open options the same as yours?

Can she open any contact set on the same network from GM?

Does she have master rights to access the properties of the database?

Are you using drive letters, if so, does she have the same mappings?

Good Luck
Dave

OK.... this user is located in another city. Whoever was here before me set it up by putting a copy of the executable on cd and sent it to them, then sent them cd's with the information that they need to put on there's to get the correct database informtaion. She isn't connected to our network at all. Her machine is trying to send it to out network but it is supposed to be finding it locally. When she goes to the properties of the database it is greyed out and can't change the path for it to follow.

Try this, log in to GM w/Master rights, from main menu select Edit | Preferences | Login tab

Are these settings right? these settings should be the same as listed as your GM.ini

Actually the problem is when logging in as another user it says invalid username and password. When logging in as that user it won't let you in. So I'm not exactly sure what is going on. I don't have the ok to have a tech come in to look at the issue and resolve(costs) and have only been using the software for like 4 days now. I'm pretty much stuck on the river going the wrong way with no paddle!

Did I mention all the leaks in the boat? Or did I mean systems? Right now I'm also trying to fix their network, or what they call a network. (Shared Files from all computers with links all over the desktops to other computers and software) Just a heads up on what I have to deal with here!
