Contact Local Phone Number Adds +1

When adding a phone number with area code, Outlook is defaulting with a +1 in front of it. This makes recognising international calls very difficult. Any ideas on changing this default?

my guess would be in the dialing properties of your modem.

Phone and Modem properties have not been altered. No Dialing Rules, Area Code Rules, or Calling Card Rules. Only the local Area Code has input in this dialog.
