Consoling into an Ascend MAX through a 2511 using reverse telnet

I am trying to hook up a couple of Ascend MAX 6000 switches to a cisco 2511 terminal server. I want to be able to access the console ports of both Ascend MAX switches using reverse telnet just as I can access the console ports of a couple of Cisco routers through the 2511. I know the max console cable is a straight through 9 pin serial Male to Female. The RJ-45 plugs are 8 pin however.

Has anyone done this and if so how and where could I get a pinout. I assume that not all 9 wires are used by the MAX console, in fact I think only 4 are used.

I am not all that familiar with the intricacies of the Async serial ports on a 2511 but is it possible at all to use software commands to cross over or switch the pins on the async ports of a cisco? For example if pin 3 is RX and pin 4 is RX, are there any commands to assign the RX to, say, pin 6 on the async and to assign TX to pin 7? Perhaps if I knew the pinout and there was such a possibility I wouldnt need to crimp a new cable.

Maybe I just need to crimp a special cable for this.

Hi
If you just get a cisco DB9-RJ45 adaptor as used when connecting to the console port on a router and attach that to the relevant async cable on your 2511, that should work

I already tried that and it didnt work. The RJ45 cables coming out of my 2511 are supposed to be going to Cisco router console ports, as if they had come out of a PC serial port with that very same RJ-45 to DB9 adapter. In other words, using that DB9/RJ45 adapter + cisco rollover cable makes a PC talk to a cisco console port.

An Ascend MAX console cable is straight through, not rollover. As far as I know a rollover cable flips pin 1 to pin 8, 2 to 6, 3 to 5 etc, while a straight through cable(Ascend) goes from 1 to 1, 2 to 2. etc.

I guess I need to look up what the pins on an ascend expect, vs. what the pins on a cisco console port accept and crimp a custom RJ-45 cable with the appropriate pins flipped over however they need to be.
